Sun Picture is the instrumental home studio project of Venezuelan-American musician Carlos Lowenstein.

Using everything from modular synths to live instruments, Sun Picture blends elements of ambient, dub, spiritual jazz, and Latin-American beats. This mix is approached with a restraint suggestive of krautrock’s detached stance.

Each track on the debut LP, So many little rooms, is drawn from banal recollections of Lowenstein's life in 1980s-'90s Caracas: A monkey that would escape from the zoo next to his school. Flights to vacations on now defunct national airlines. The roosters crowing at dawn over the mountain city. Fragments of a normalcy that faded as Venezuela became a failed state.

Lowenstein lives in Chicago, making music out of his Logan Square basement.
